HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - An unnamed 10-year-old girl suffered a broken arm, along with cuts and bruises, when she was struck by a SUV on a South Side road in Holland on Wednesday morning. Public Safety Officers were called to the intersection of 40th Street and Washington Avenue around 7:30, where an Allegan woman had hit the youngster as she was driving westbound on 40th Street with a green light. Witnesses say that the victim, who was with two friends walking towards Jefferson School, had initially run into the street just beyond a marked crosswalk, but then dashed back. Ignoring warnings from her friends, the girl went forward again and was struck. The victim was taken to Holland Hospital for treatment; the driver was not hurt and not cited. The incident remains under investigation.
