BRIGHTON (WKZO) -- A portion of Interstate 96 at U.S. 23 is closed today as the police task force looking into a string of roadway shootings continued their investigation.  While officials did not confirm a closure, motorists reported a police checkpoint and the closure to local media

On Saturday afternoon a 46-year-old Delton man driving to Detroit to see Game Three of the World Series was struck by a bullet.  He was hospitalized for a day and released Sunday.

So far, police have received reports of 23 shootings in the I-96 corridor in Oakland, Livingston, Schiawassee and Ingham Counties.
