MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP (WKZO) -- A Muskegon woman is in mourning after she ran out for an errand Thursday and came home to a bloodbath.

There had been a history of domestic violence in the Laverty family years ago but nothing recently. Apparently a lot of those old emotions boiled up when 30-year-old Justin Laverty learned that his family was starting up a new business and he would not be included in it. They had been working together in a small cleaning business.

The younger Laverty apparently had an argument with his 57 year old father over the matter while Mrs. Laverty was out running that errand. Detective believe he pulled out a folding knife and stabbed him several times. David Laverty staggered into the kitchen, collapsed and died.

They believe that Justin then went upstairs to his bedroom, grabbed a shotgun and killed himself.
