KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- What are the chances Hurricane Sandy could reach west Michigan? AccuWeather meteorologist Elliot Abrams tells WKZO it is not likely.
"That happens more frequently when a storm comes in from the Gulf of Mexico and goes north," Abrams said. "This one didn't come from there."
While west Michigan may be off the hook from Sandy, the eastern seaboard will not be. In fact, some accounts suggest it may be the toughest storm the northeast has seen in 100 years.
AccuWeather forecasts suggest Sandy will make landfall somewhere in an area stretching from the Delmarva peninsula to mid-Maine sometime Monday or Tuesday.
The key is how soon and how far Sandy will turn west after riding the east coast.
