BARRY COUNTY (WKZO) -- Opening arguments will be heard and the first witnesses called Tuesday in the child sexual abuse trial of Michael Terpening of Barry County.
Terpening was the director of Earth Services, a program near Bellevue that was supposed to take troubled boys and others who were hard to place and assign them animals to care for, building up their self-esteem and giving them an alternative to the conditions that got them into trouble in the first place. Instead he is charged with sexually preying on a number of the boys. He is charged with multiple counts but he insists he is innocent.
Jury Selection took most of Monday in the highly publicized case. The verdict may come down to the credibility of the boys and now young men making the accusations. Testimony could take two weeks.
