KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- Paul Spaude, president and CEO of Borgess Heath, spoke Friday morning at a Business Round table event held at the Kalamazoo Country Club.
Spaude's presentation was centered on the state of healthcare in America seeking to answer the question, "Healthcare Policy: Where Will We Go?”
Spaude offered a historical account of the healthcare system in America as well as giving the differences in healthcare methods used around the world. Moving into present times Spaude said, “The U.S. needs a healthcare policy, we do not have one.” Spaude went on to say, “The question is do you leave a large segment of the U.S. population without coverage? That is a pivotal issue. How can the uninsured or underinsured be insured? How should we have the healthy and young subsidize the less healthy? How should personal health and accountability be pursued?”
