WAYLAND, MI (WHTC) - A Michigan State Police Trooper was injured after his cruiser was slammed from behind by a pickup truck going at nearly full speed on an Allegan County highway.
According to authorities, Trooper Cecil Vashaw was among a number of officers addressing a semi accident on US-131 near the 135th Avenue exit west of Wayland yesterday afternoon. As he was sitting in his prowl car on the left lane of southbound US-131, with flashers on to divert traffic into the right lane, a pickup truck that apparently didn't notice the situation swerved to the left to avoid a collision. However, a second pickup right behind didn't adjust and crashed into the cruiser.
Vashaw suffered minor injuries, while the two pickup drivers, although unhurt, were issued citations for their driving behavior.
