PHILADELPHIA (WKZO) -- The Lions won Sunday 26-23 in overtime improving to 2-3 on the season. Detroit's defense kept the Lions in the game, despite early offensive struggles and 16 pentalties. Once again Detroit rallied late to send the game to overtime with Matt Stafford waking up in the 4th quarter to lead the Lions to victory.
Matthew Stafford has struggled early in games this season and that trend continued today against the Eagles. Stafford seems to come alive in the 4th quarter always giving the Lions a chance to win the game. He finished the day 22/45 for 311 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception. On several occasions he missed open targets, sailing the passes over their heads. As the game went on, Stafford improved and finally seemed to sync up with his receievers.
The defense had a strong showing against the Eagles. Detroit had two interceptions, one fumble recovery and three sacks. The Lions defense held the Eagles to 13 points through the first three quarters when Detroit's offense was nowhere to be found.
Detroit will play their NFC North rival Chicago Bears next week Monday at 8:30pm.
