UNDATED (WTVB) - More and more people are using their backsides to accidentally call 911. A new report from "The Daily" says 40 percent of calls made to 911 dispatch centers this year were "accidental" in nature, with many of those calls chalked up to "butt-dialing" where folks accidentally place calls while their cell phones are in their back pockets. Industry experts say the proliferation of cell phones in recent years has led to an explosion of accidental calls to 911, and the result leads to delays in police, fire and EMT responses to actual emergencies. 911 dispatchers aren't mincing words, calling the "butt-dialing" numbers an "epidemic." Officials say cell phones have also helped emergency units respond quickly to actual emergencies, but they'd prefer it if folks managed to stop using their rears to call 911.
