In state major college football on Friday night, Central Michigan fell to Navy, 31-13. On Saturday afternoon, Michigan State hosts Iowa, Michigan is home to Illinois, Western Michigan travels to Ball State, and Eastern Michigan entertains Toledo.

Hope College athletics on Friday saw the volleyball Dutch beat both Wisconsin Lutheran and Wisconsin-Whitewater in straight sets, and the golfing Dutch are in a tie for second midway through the MIAA Championship tournament at Bedford Valley, which concludes on Saturday. In other Hope action on Saturday, the soccer Dutchmen are home to Alma, while the soccer Dutch travel to Olivet, and the volleyball Dutch entertain both Elmhurst and Dominican.

By virtue of a 3-1 victory over visiting Baltimore on Friday night, the New York Yankees earned the home field advantage in the American League Championship Series versus the Tigers that begins in the Bronx on Saturday evening. Coverage on 1450 WHTC begins at 7:40 PM.

Patrick Cehlin scored twice in the first seven and a half minutes of the third period to rally visiting Milwaukee past the Griffins in Grand Rapids’ season opener on Friday night, 3-2. Hamilton comes to Van Andel Arena on Saturday evening.
