ROBINSON TWP., MI (WHTC) - A 28-year-old Robinson Township man in an apparent drunken rage injured his mother and an 18-month-old toddler before being arrested.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brian Buter, the unnamed man was inebriated when he came to a home in the area of 128th Avenue and Johnson Street around 6:30 last night and, during a protracted argument, twice pushed down his 51-year-old mom while she was holding her grandchild. During the two scuffles, the youth's head was pinned by a closing door to the door jamb. The suspect then sped off in his vehicle, but crashed it about a mile away near 128th Avenue and Green Street. He attempted to run away from that scene, but bystanders held him at bay until deputies arrived.
The woman and child were treated for minor injuries at North Ottawa Community Hospital, while the suspect spent the night in the Ottawa County Jail, awaiting arraignment in Grand Haven District Court on various charges. The incident remains under investigation.
