GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - It was a rough afternoon for a 49-year-old Grand Rapids man that ended in an Ottawa County Jail cell.
According to Sheriff’s Sergeant Chris Koster, the unnamed motorist’s blue Cadillac Escalade was involved in two hit-and-run crashes, one on the exit ramp from I-96 to 68th Avenue in Coopersville, and the other that damaged property as he turned from 68th Avenue to Warner Street, before he was brought to justice. A Sheriff’s Sergeant spotted the vehicle as it turned from Lake Michigan Drive north onto US-31, and a pursuit ended around Lincoln Avenue, as the suspect scuffled with deputies before being subdued.
An unnamed couple in their late 30’s from Holland involved in the first crash suffered minor injuries. The suspect remains held awaiting arraignment on various charges in Grand Haven District Court.
