UNDATED (WHTC) - Austin Jackson’s fifth-inning single drove in the lone run of the game, as the Tigers won at Kansas City last night, 1-0. Miguel Cabrera went 0-for-2 at the plate, but finished as baseball’s first batting Triple Crown winner in 45 years, taking American League honors with a .330 average, 44 homers and 139 RBI. Dan Johnson slugged two homers and drove in five runs, as the White Sox won at Cleveland last night, 9-0. Chicago finished the season at 85-77, three games back of the Bengals in the AL Central.
Brian LaHair’s single in the bottom of the ninth inning plated the winning run, as the Cubs beat visiting Houston yesterday, 5-4. Chicago finished the season at 61-101, six games ahead of the last-place Astros, who leave the National League after 51 years to join the AL West next season.
