UNDATED (WHTC) - Alcides Escobar homered and drove in two runs, as Kansas City defeated the visiting Tigers last night, 4-2. Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera had two hits and drove in two runs, as he leads the AL with a .331 average, 44 homers and 139 RBI. The finale of the series and of the season at Kauffman Stadium is this evening. Coverage on 1450 WHTC begins at 7:45 PM.

Bud Norris allowed four hits with four strikeouts in six innings, as visiting Houston blanked the Cubs last night, 3-0, for the second straight evening. Chicago has managed just three singles and three doubles in two games. The finale of the series and of the season at Wrigley Field is this afternoon.

In Hope College sports yesterday: The golfing Dutch beat Trine in head-to-head competition, 5½ points to ½ point; the volleyball Dutch defeated St. Mary’s in straight sets; and the soccer Dutchmen beat Trine, 3-2. This evening, the soccer Dutch are home to Calvin.
