ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) - After more than a century of not allowing any alcohol sales prior to a public vote in 2007, Zeeland city leaders have continued to ease up on such restrictions.
Last night, council members approved an ordinance amendment that would allow full-service restaurants that currently have a license to sell liquor by the glass to be able to sell beer and wine for takeout purposes. Vitale’s of Zeeland had made the request, saying that customers have been asking them for that option ever since it became the first establishment in town to offer adult beverages when the sales ban was lifted.
The new ordinance also clarifies display signage regulations for the two restaurants, Vitale’s and Public, along with AJ’s Grocery, who sells package beer and wine.
