WASHINGTON (WHTC) - On the traditional “First Monday in October” start of a new judicial year, the US Supreme Court ruled that it would not hear arguments in an appeal of the dismissal of a civil lawsuit filed by the parents of slain Hope College coed Janet Chandler against Wackenhut Corporation. Litigation claiming that the security company failed to do background checks on her convicted murderers had been filed past the three-year statute of limitations. Chandler was killed in 1979; convictions were handed down 26 years later.
