UAW mobilized should Right to Work legislation surface in Lansing

by

LANSING (WKZO) -- State Troopers were mobilized and had a command center set up, and the UAW had protestors in the State Capitol in case Right to Work Legislation was proposed yesterday, but after a meeting between the Senate Leader, the Governor and House Speaker Jase Bolger, nothing happened. They said maybe next week, maybe not at all.

Governor Snyder continues to say Right to Work legislation would bring work on all other legislation to a halt, which he doesn’t want.

Bolger seems to have convinced himself that Right to Work legislation shouldn’t be a divisive issue, but a uniting issue. He is likely to find out just how divisive it is, if a bill moves forward.

Senate Leader Richardson declined comment.  They want to avoid the kind of protests that brought the Capitol in Wisconsin to a standstill.

The consensus seems to be that if something doesn’t happen next week, time will run out on the legislation for this session.
