LANSING, MI (WHTC) - Unemployment along the Lakeshore sank a little last month. In numbers released by the state Department of Technology, Management and Budget, joblessness in both Allegan and Ottawa counties slipped three tenths of a percent from September levels to 5.6 and 5.5 percent, respectively. This compares to marks of 7.6 and seven percent even, respectively, for October of 2011. State officials say that stability, along with steady growth in services and manufacturing, led to unemployment rates edging downward in 16 of Michigan’s 17 major labor market areas last month.
