HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - For the second straight year, the pool of the Holland Community Aquatic Center saw a high school team from the Lakeshore capture its first state girls' title. West Ottawa used victories in the 200-Yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay, along with a diving crown by junior Dani VanderZwaag, to win the Division 1 crown with 293.5 points, 21.5 more than second place and defending champion Farmington Hills Mercy. Zeeland placed fourth with 150 points in the Saturday competiton.
In Rochester, Holland High won its second straight Division 2 title, successfuly defending its first-ever crown won on its home pool last November. The Dutch won all three relays - the 200-yard medley, along with the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays - while sophomore Taylor Garcia was tops in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly, junior Cassie Misiewicz took the 500-yard freestyle, and junior Holly Morren captured the 100-yard freestyle. Second-place Ann Arbor Skyline was 56 points behind Holland's 311.5-point total.
In the MHSAA Division 3 meet at Ypsilanti, Hamilton and Holland Christian finshed three-four.
