GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC) - A year’s license suspension, 40 hours of community service, counseling, written letters of apology, and six months of probation was the sentence handed down yesterday to Danielle Michaels, the 17-year-old Grand Haven woman who did not contest charges stemming from a crash on I-96 near Lowell a year ago. She and four other Grand Haven High students were seriously injured when their SUV hit a cable barrier and flipped over. Michaels said that she was distracted by her cell phone and had swerved to avoid an accident.
