HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC) - It’s West Michigan Dutch-American Heritage Day, and leaders of the region’s two MIAA colleges will be honored during a dinner at the Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville tonight. Dr. James Bultman, who had wanted to retire in June as Hope College’s President, but was asked to stay on when the leading candidate to replace him opted to go to Calvin instead, will receive a leadership award for his 14 years at the helm of the Holland school. Dr. Gaylen Byker, who was able to retire as Calvin’s President, will also receive this honor. Dutch-American Heritage Day has recognized the long-standing history between the two countries since 1991.
