HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - An unnamed 43-year-old man was shot during a robbery attempt at his East 16th Street apartment unit around 8 PM last night. Holland Public Safety officers arrived on the scene in the 800 block to find the victim suffering a wound to his leg. Before he was taken to Holland Hospital for treatment of the non-serious injury, the victim told investigators that two black men in their 20’s, average in build and wearing hoodies with bandanas, approached him as he was attempting to enter his apartment. One of them was carrying a handgun, and he fired the weapon as the victim tried to get inside and close the door. The suspects then fled on foot, and police canine units failed to follow a scent. A neighbor said that the suspects may have left the scene in a red or burgundy four-door sedan, possible a Chrysler Concorde, with one headlight out. The nearby GVSU campus was on lockdown for about an hour as a precaution. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Holland Public Safety or Silent Observer (877-88-SILENT, http://mosotips.com).
