COVERT, MI (WHTC) - Just days after passing a federal disaster simulation with flying colors, the Palisades nuclear power plant in Covert is shut down again, this time for a steam leak that was discovered on Sunday afternoon. Plant officials say that at no time were employees or the public in any danger, and they didn’t give a time frame for when repairs can be completed and the facility be back to full operations. Palisades was shut down twice this summer due to pipe leaks, and a number of operational breakdowns last year led to a NRC rating downgrade.
