ALLENDALE, MI (WHTC) - There have been no reported serious injuries or fatalities during this bow-and-arrow deer hunting season along the Lakeshore thus far, but one hunter needed some help yesterday morning. Matt Kelly called 911 from his cell phone as he was attempting to retrieve a tree stand in a wooded area off of Lincoln Street near the Bass River Recreation Area west of Allendale. His leg was pinned in a v-shaped portion of the tree, about 12 to 15 feet off of the ground. A responding deputy was able to help lower the hunter safely to the ground, and Kelly admitted that he was shaken but was not injured in the ordeal.
