HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - Hope College is the only institute of higher learning in Michigan to receive a one million-dollar, four-year grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. It’s one of 47 such awards given nationwide on an annual basis, and it’s the fifth time in the past 21 years that the Holland school garnered this grant. The money this time will be used by what Hope officials say will be developing courses in the natural and applied sciences that integrate experience in conducting original research for “big picture thinking” by students.
