LANSING (WHTC) - Governor Snyder Friday signed legislation to cut your state income taxes. One bill, sponosored by Republican Representative Holly Hughes of Montague, raises the personal tax exemption from $3,700 per person to $3,950 per person starting Oct. 1, and $4,000 in January 2014. A second bill cuts the income tax rate from 4.35 percent to 4.25 percent, effective in October. Hughes says the cuts will make Michigan more attractive to businesses looking to hire.
