UNDATED (WHTC) - It was budget night for local school boards, as they approved spending plans for the upcoming academic year. West Ottawa will lop off over 50 staffers in order to balance its books; the Panthers is cutting spending by 1.4 million dollars to 68.5 million. Holland's financial blueprint is for 44.3 million dollars, while Zeeland's stands at 50.7 million.

Besides working on budgets, there were a couple of personnel matters brought up: Holland appointed Jason Passatta for the last six months of Kevin Clark’s term, as the board VP is retiring. Calls by citizens and parents for Zeeland superintendent Dave Barry’s resignation continue in the wake of his suspension last month for plagiarism; the first-year chief isn't stepping down, but the board has revised its staff disciplinary policy in the wake of this incident.
