HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC) - A long-time state lawmaker from the Lakeshore has died. Bill Van Regenmorter succumbed to Parkinson’s disease yesterday at the age of 73. The Hudsonville Republican served a total 24 years in both the Senate and the House in the pre-term limits era, retiring in favor of Dave Agema in 2006. Van Regenmorter’s legacy will likely be the Crime Victim’s Rights Act that he spearheaded to a voter approval in 1988, and it serves as a blueprint for similar legislation across the country. Funeral arrangements are pending.
