KALAMAZOO, MI (WHTC) - One-time West Ottawa High School teacher and basketball coach Von Washington Junior has announced his resignation as principal of Kalamazoo Central High, effective on June 30^th. He left the Panthers eight years ago to work at an alternative education program in Kalamazoo before going to the Maroon Giants in 2006, assuming the principal’s chair a year later. He was at the helm two years ago when President Obama spoke before the KCHS graduating class at WMU's Read Fieldhouse. Washington said he's leaving Central wants to pursue other undisclosed opportunities.
