HOLLAND (WHTC) -- Five winning murals have been chosen by the Holland Area Arts Council to drape the sides of the South Shore Village shopping district located at the intersection of 17th St. and South Shore Dr.
"It's about bringing an appreciation of art and the history of Holland together for the community," Lorma Freestone, director of the Holland Area Arts Council, said. Freestone along with council members voted on over 12 submissions for the mural projects and decided on five that gave the best range of history and culture in the town of Holland as well as visual appeal.
The project is being privately funded by the merchants at Southshore in Holland.
Watch above for an interview from Freestone explaining the details of the mural project and also hear from the artists themselves showcasing their winning designs.
