HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - A robbery of a gas station on Holland’s North Side before dawn isn’t related to a rash of hold ups in Kent County overnight … at least for now.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Detective Lieutenant Mark Bennett, a dark-skinned man dressed entirely in black except for white shoes with candy apple-colored shoelaces, walked into the Shell station on River Avenue at Douglas Avenue around 5:15 AM with a handgun in his hand. The suspect demanded and received cash, along with a pack of Camel Blue Light cigarettes. The clerk on duty cooperated with the gunman’s demands and was not hurt.
Bennett added that, at this point, it is not believed that this incident is related to the number of similar-style robberies around Grand Rapids earlier this morning, as the suspect remains at large. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department or Silent Observer (877-88-SILENT, www.mosotips.com).
