Tigers Idle, but Cubs, Sox & Caps All Register Monday Victories

UNDATED (WHTC) - Armed with newcomers Omar Infante and Anibal Sanchez, who came in a five-player trade with Miami during yesterday’s off-day from competition, the Tigers begin a three-game series versus the Indians at Progressive Field in Cleveland this evening. Jeff Samardzija allowed just one hit and struck out five in eight innings, while Alfonso Soriano stroked a pair of run-scoring doubles, as the Cubs blanked the Pirates in Pittsburgh last night, 2-0. The series at PNC Park continues this evening.

Paul Konerko cracked a three-run homer in the first inning, while both Adam Dunn and Alex Rios hit two-run blasts two innings later, as they powered the White Sox to a 7-4 victory over visiting Minnesota last night. The series at US Cellular Field in Chicago continues this evening.


Jason Krizan’s single in the bottom of the ninth inning plated the winning run, as the Whitecaps took the rubber game of the series from visiting Burlington last night, 3-2. Off today, West Michigan opens up a three-game series in suburban Cleveland versus the Lake County Captains this evening.
