DETROIT (WHTC) - Four persons from the Lakeshore failed to win a Governor’s Service Award during last night’s ceremonies in Detroit. Greg Edmunds and Devi Kruis, both of Holland, were finalists for Mentor of the Year; JoAnn Lemmen of Holland vied for Senior Volunteer of the Year; and Shayna Wierenga of Grand Haven could have been named Youth Volunteer of the Year. They were among 25 individuals and 15 groups that were honored for their commitment to volunteer service, and were culled from more than 130 statewide who were nominated.
