The mother of Sylvester Stallone's son has blamed extensive dental surgery for the 36 year old's death.

The movie star and his ex-wife Sasha Czack were left stunned and devastated when they learned of their son Sage Stallone's death on Friday (13Jul12).

Amid reports the actor/producer accidentally overdosed on pain medication, his mother has spoken to the New York Post, revealing she tried to talk her son out of having five teeth removed in a day, two weeks before his death.

She told the publication, ""I told him not to do that. I've heard about people dying having multiple procedures done to your mouth. Do not have more than one tooth (pulled).""

Czack also hinted that her son was taking painkillers following the surgery.

A weekend autopsy proved inconclusive and now officials are awaiting the results of toxicology and other tests before announcing the cause of death.

Los Angeles authorities have launched an investigation into the death and are seeking out the doctors Sage visited in the weeks before the tragedy.

A closed-casket funeral has been scheduled for Saturday (21Jul12) in Brentwood, California.
