UNDATED (WHTC) - Justin Verlander scattered four hits and struck out six in eight innings, pitching the Tigers past the visiting White Sox last night, 4-2. Detroit is now a ½ game behind Chicago in the AL Central race heading into this afternoon’s contest at Comerica Park. Coverage on 1450 WHTC begins at 3:40 PM.

St.Louis scored three runs in the first inning to snap Ryan Dempster’s 33-inning scoreless pitching streak, and the Cardinals went on to defeat the visiting Cubs last night, 4-1. The series at Busch Stadium continues this evening.

Peoria plated four runs in the 11th inning to beat the visiting Whitecaps last night, 9-6, and avoid being swept out of a series Fifth Third Ballpark. West Michigan hosts Burlington to begin a three-game set this evening.
