LANSING (WKZO) -- A group calling themselves the "GOP Education Network" has launched a robocall campaign targeting households with registered Republican voters, telling them to call their local representative to demand Michigan House Speaker Jase Bolger’s resignation. It comes in the fallout over Representative Roy Schmidt's recent switch from the Democratic Party to the GOP, with his admission that he found a Democratic candidate to take his place with the intention of losing so that he might gain re-election.
The call is factual in laying out the case, but takes the position that Bolger and Roy Schmidt have embarrassed Michigan. Calls heard in different districts name respective local representatives.
Some Republicans say it's a ploy by the opposition party to embarrass the GOP, but Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer denies any involvement.
