HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The Holland City Council last night approved establishing a steering committee to work on implementing aspects of a proposed, long-range Community Energy Plan that would deal with the Tulip City’s needs and how to best address them. The committee will set up task forces to delve further into six components of the plan. Representatives of outside groups such as Progress Michigan, Clean Water Action, the American Council for an Energy-Efficiency Economy and the Sierra Club descended on Holland yesterday in visually-targeted demonstrations, briefings and petition filings, urging council members to steer away from traditional power sources and towards renewable resources. Last night's vote comes three weeks before the release of a report on the BPW’s future electricity needs.
