COVERT, MI (WHTC) - As the Palisades Nuclear Power Plant gradually returns to full power following a 28-day shutdown due to a leak in a cooling tank, a new report has emerged claiming a lack of accountability at all levels of the facility near South Haven. The study, conducted in January and February, was commissioned by plant operator Entergy following a rating downgrade at the beginning of the year by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission over several operational shutdowns in 2011. The plant is still operating safely, according to the report. Congressman Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph), Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said that he plans to go over the report with new NRC Chair Allison Macfarlane when he meets with her next week.
