ZEELAND, MI (WHTC) - Thirteen months after he retired as superintendent of the Zeeland Public Schools, Gary Feenstra is back with the school district. The Zeeland school board Monday voted to appoint Feenstra, who served 18 years as superintendent until June of last year, as the district’s interim superintendent until a permanent replacement can be found. School board president Tom DenHerder says Feenstra brings “great depth of experience to the table and a good working relationship with teachers and support staff.” Dave Barry resigned as Zeeland superintendent June 30 after just one year on the job in the wake of plagiarism charges against him. Feenstra plans to start work Tuesday.
