UNDATED (WHTC) - Jordan Shipers threw a no-hitter against the Whitecaps, walking two and striking out two, as Clinton blanked visiting West Michigan on Wednesday night, 10-0. Shipers, a southpaw picked by the Seattle Mariners in the 16th round of the 2010 MLB Entry Draft as a high school grad from Missouri, issued the free passes in the fourth inning before closing the door on the 'Caps; West Michigan's only other baserunner came a frame later on a throwing error, but Shipers induced a double-play grounder. Despite an 86 degree temperature and fair skies at game time, the announced attendance was just 706. The series at Ashford University Field on the banks of the Mississippi continues on Thursday evening. Coverage on 1450 WHTC and www.whtc.com begins at 7:50 PM.
