HOLLAND, MI (WHTC) - The early summer heat wave continues along the Lakeshore. It’s the fourth straight day of an Air Quality Alert, with MAX Transit resuming free rides on its fixed bus routes today, and the third consecutive day of an Excessive Heat Warning for Allegan and Ottawa counties. There have been 14 such Air Quality Alerts for the Lakeshore already this season, after the state DEQ issued only eight for this area all of last year. Forecasters don’t see a break in the heat until Saturday at the earliest. While crowds flocked to beaches and parks yesterday to celebrate the Independence Day holiday, and fireworks over Lake Macatawa and Kalamazoo Lake last night drew numbers of people to both venues, oppressive heat and congested parking lots kept many home and indoors.
