Detroit (WTVB) General Motors is reporting a 16-percent gain in June sales when compared to 2011.  The popularity of the Chevrolet Malibu was evident last month as sales jumped by 32-percent.  The Buick LaCrosse was also a hit gaining 21-percent is sales compared to one-year ago.  June sales at Ford Motor Company were up by seven percent with sales of the newly redesigned Escape leading the way.  Ford President of the Americas Mark Fields says the Escape only has an average of five days on a dealer lot before it is sold. There is more good news for Auburn Hills-based Chrysler as the automaker reported its best June sales since 2007.  The company reported a 20-percent increase over the same period last year with nearly 145-thousand vehicles sold.  All four divisions of the company posted gains with Chrysler sales leading the way with a 63-percent increase.  Sales for Jeep vehicles were 23-percent higher, while Ram truck sales grew by eleven-percent.
