UNDATED (WHTC) - With one exception, all high school basketball matchups along the Lakeshore last night had both the boys and girls teams competing.Holland split at MonaShores, with the Dutch boys winning, 61-48, but the girls losing, 46-29. Holland Christian swept the Dux at Zeeland West by scores of 63-50 for the boys and 47-29 for the girls. West Ottawa shared the spoils at Rockford, with the Panthers winning the boys’ game, 48-43, but the Rams taking the girls’ contest, 43-33. Zeeland East was swept at Unity Christian by scores of 35-33 for the boys and 50-27 for the girls. Hamilton took two from visiting Wyoming Park by tallies of 72-69 for the boys and 67-52 for the girls. Saugatuck cleaned up at Martin, with Tom Kazen’s boys winning, 47-40, and John Green’s girls triumphant, 53-43. Fennville dropped a pair to visiting Bangor – 62-55 for the boys, 53-21 for the girls. Finally, it was splitsville at the Civic Center for Calvary Schools of Holland against visiting West Michigan Lutheran, with the Crusaders taking the boys’ contest, 83-62, but falling in the girls’ match, 74-52. In a boys encounter, Black River lost in double overtime to visiting Providence Christian, 74-52.

After a week away from competition, both of Grand Valley State’s teams return to action today in Big Rapids against arch-rival Ferris State.
In state major-college basketball last night, Detroit defeated visiting Illinois-Chicago, 70-66. Matinees today have Western Michigan hosting Miami and Central Michigan entertaining Akron; evening encounters find Eastern Michigan home to Bowling Green and Oakland welcoming North Dakota State to the O-rena.

Adam Cracknell set up three of Peoria’s four goals in the second period, and that was enough for the Rivermen to defeat the visiting Griffins last night, 4-2. The two teams have a rematch at Carver Arena this evening.
