DETROIT (WKZO) -- Buick is entering the very competitive small crossover segment with the introduction of the new Buick Encore.

General Motors officials say the vehicle will compete with more expensive vehicles like the Audi Q3 and BMW X1 crossovers.  The Encore will feature the 1.4-liter Ecotec turbocharged four cylinder engine that will be featured in many GM models.

The Encore is expected to be on sale in the first quarter of 2013.
