LANSING (WKZO) -- The long-term unemployed have lost a safety net. The federal Extended Benefit system gives up to another 20 weeks of unemployment pay to those who cannot find jobs when the unemployment rate is very high. Michigan's jobless numbers are now below the numbers required by federal law to continue the EB program, and the state will wrap up those payments during the week ending February 18th.
