DETROIT (WKZO) -- Alleged drug kingpin Carlos Powell and former state Representative Ken Daniels are among twelve individuals indicted, accused of drug trafficking and money laundering.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration arrested Powell Wednesday morning at his Eastpointe home. They seized more than ten-million-dollars in cash along with 55-pounds of heroin, as well as a fleet of expensive boats and vehicles including two Bentleys and a Ferrari.
Powell is accused of heading a large-scale drug operation with ties to Grosse Pointe, Ann Arbor, Detroit and Chicago, although he has no criminal record. Daniels was an appointee of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who, along with the ex-Mayor, was indicted several years ago on numerous charges including bid-rigging and extortion.
