ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) - A preliminary exam is slated today for a 47-year-old Wayland area man on meth charges. Claude Stevens has been in the Allegan County Jail since his arrest along US-131 near 124th Avenue on January 11th after reports of erratic driving, and a search of the vehicle and his Yankee Springs home in Barry County uncovered evidence of a meth lab and the drug. What makes this case unique is that Stevens was pulled over two months earlier by the same state police trooper, driving the same truck, with the same results, but had not been formally charged.
