UNDATED (WKZO) -- All of the power outages in Kalamazoo and Van Buren County have been repaired, but there were still 981 customers still without power in Allegan County and 111 in Ottawa County, and thousands more in counties to the north after Thursday and Friday’s windy weather.
Consumers Energy says they have about 5,000 total left to address, down from the 170-thousand who have been affected at one time or another by the first taste of winter.
Because of the colder temperatures, residents living in areas where there is no power are encouraged to help neighbors who may be elderly, disabled or infants. Crews have been brought in from Indiana, Ohio and Illinois to speed up repairs.
They estimate that most will have their power back by Midnight but some in remote areas may not get their power back until Monday.
Some counties to the north set up emergency warming shelters for those without heat.
