HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) - A shoplifting bust of three 19-year-old Holland area men turned into an altercation with authorities. The three suspects were pulled over on Riley Street near 128thAvenue on Holland’s North Side shortly after they allegedly swiped some liquor from a Meijer store around 2 AM yesterday. According to Sheriff’s Detective Lieutenant Mark Bennett, deputies spotted one of the three men with a Magnum revolver stuffed inside a waistband. As a lawman tried to get at the gun, a scuffle ensued, and the deputy suffered minor injuries that led to a brief treatment at Holland Hospital.
Other deputies were able to get the gun, along with apprehending the three suspects, without further incident. The man who allegedly had the weapon, Jordan Daquan London, was arraigned yesterday afternoon on various charges; the other two – Joshua Mendoza and Demetrius Viney – went before a judge today, and all three remain held on 50 thousand dollars bond. The incident remains under investigation.
