DETROIT (WKZO) -- The cash-strapped city of Detroit needs to collect taxes from everyone who owes money. However ,the city's record keeping is reportedly grossly inaccurate so it could be tough to figure out exactly who owes how much. The city claims that six businesses owe a total of more than four million dollars in past property taxes.
Four of the six say the city is wrong while the other two have not yet commented. The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, for example, allegedly owes more than 84-thousand dollars from 2005. The company says that's impossible. The owner of the Studio One Apartments near Wayne State says he has proof that he paid the 253-thousand dollars the city claims he owes from 2009.
